CARMEL POPCORN (from Cindy M)
5 quarts popcorn (20 cups)
1 cup peanuts
1 cup margarine
2 cups light brown sugar
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix popcorn and peanuts in greased roasting pan. Melt butter in large saucepan. Add sugar and corn syrup. Stir, bringing to a boil. Boil 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, stir in soda, salt and vanilla. Pour over popcorn mixture. Stir until evenly coated, greased wooden spoon works well. Bake at 250 for 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes.
